Bret Hendricks, EdD, is an Associate Professor in Counselor Education at Texas Tech University. His experience encompasses community agency counseling, private practice, special education counseling and treatment center administration. His research interests include counseling ethics, adolescent depression, and using creative techniques, especially music techniques, in counseling. Dr. Hendricks has been published in countless counseling journals and textbooks, and as a frequent presenter at state, national, and international conferences, he has delivered more than 100 professional presentations. Throughout his career, Dr. Hendricks has been and continues to be involved in professional counseling organizations. He is a Past-president of both the International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC) and the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), and has held numerous positions with state and national organizations including the American Counseling Association (ACA) , the Association of Adult Development and Aging (ADDA), the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), the Texas School Counselor Association (TSCA), the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Counselors (TAMFC), the West Texas Counseling Association (WTCA), and others. The recipient of numerous professional awards for distinguished service, Dr. Hendricks is also widely recognized for his extensive advocacy promoting the counseling profession and the clients counselors serve.
