Project S.A.F.E. (Supporting Allen Family Education) integrates school counseling and family counseling models within a broad based systems meta-model that is used to conceptualize the child’s problems in the context of all his or her interpersonal networks: family, peer group, classroom, school (teacher, principal, other students), and community. When a child is referred to Project S.A.F.E., the child’s problem may involve one or all of these interpersonal networks. However, irrespective of the level of interpersonal network affected, the S.A.F.E. professional will relate positively with the child’s family in order to reinforce positive change with the child.

The program is open to any family with a student enrolled in the School District and are made through the campus counselor, principal or teacher. The project offers the following:
• Family counseling
• Parent workshops
• Campus based training package that develops educators’ skills in three areas: thinking systemically, communicating effectively, and developing “family friendly” practices.
• Teacher consultations
• Behavior improvement plans
• Access to a wide array of community services
Goals and Objectives of Project:
Goal: To empower schools and families to help the children of Allen succeed at home, school, and in the community.
Objective 1: Provide family counseling to the families of Allen ISD
Objective 2: Provide each campus of Allen ISD with training in thinking systemically, communicating effectively, and developing family friendly practices
Objective 3: Provide the families of Allen ISD access to a wide array of community resources

I just learned about NMCA! I am an LPC Intern in Frisco working at a private practice. I also work for Plano ISD as a parent educator. Are you still looking for interns, and is this a paid position?

I know this is an old message, but wanted to see if you knew anyone who needed hours.

I work for Allen ISD and we are looking for interns and practicum students to help this coming Fall. WE support all the self-contained behavioral classes and conduct 7-8 groups per week and there would be opportunity for 1:1 follow-up and hours with individually students.
